Abstract

The thesis deals with the methods of achieving the required ultimate strength at the relatively demanding requirements for notch toughness of high-strength class 10 chains. The objective of the paper is therefore to describe the mechanism, in which various types of heat treatment affect the mechanical properties of the chains with reference to the requirements laid down under the PAS 1061 technological practice. In this context, tests were conducted for selected heat treatment methods, and mechanical properties of the tested chains were determined. The results of the tests conducted were used to describe the effects of specific heat treatment methods employed for class 10 chains on the mechanical properties, which may also be useful for the technical practice. Based on the test results, the most appropriate heat treatment method was identified with regard to the requirements laid down under the PAS 1061 practice.
