Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of thermally active dumps. In theoretical part it describes the factors that are involved in their self-ignition. It explains how dumps contribute to create dustiness and relationship between plants and dust particles. Briefly, toxic metals arsenic, cadmium, lead and vanadium are characterized. Part of the first part of this diploma thesis is also a description of the Heřmanice dump from which samples were taken. Practical part of the diploma thesis is devoted to the description of the methodology and also detected contents of selected toxic metals in the soil particles, leaves and dust particles are evaluated. The second part also includes verification of the method US EPA 3052: Microwave assisted acid digestion of siliceous and organically based matrices by X-ray fluorescence.
