Abstract
Inventories represent a crucial factor affecting the competitiveness of each company in the current difficult market environment. High level of inventory leads to allocation of funds in stocks, but, at the same time, it also optimizes adequate flexibility of supplies to customers. When searching for an optimal safety stock level, it will be necessary to find a compromise and balance in all the cases. In case of manufacturing companies, inventory is among the most financially voluminous categories. This is one of the reasons why the decisions related to the inventory management system are often of strategic nature. The aim of this diploma thesis is to assess the current system of safety stock management in GIFF, a.s. company and, on the basis of the performed analysis, to define the possible changes and potential improvements, including their estimated economic impacts.
