Abstract

The thesis deals with cooling the wire on Stelmor conveyor. The wire on the roller conveyor is cooled by airflow. The air is distributed to the hot wire by several fans. The first chapters deal with measuring air velocity. The best measurement method was closen in laboratories. Several models simulating the airflow from nozzles between the rollers and wire were created in COMSOL Multiphysics as well as some models simulating the cooling of the wire. The final heat transfer calculation is created by combining results of the particular parts of the thesis. The calculation is designed to estimate the cooling of the wire, if some parameters change. At the end of the thesis some adjustments of air distribution by simple structural elements are suggested.
