Abstract

Due to the stricter legislation, the Czech Republic has to reduce biologically decomposable amounts of municipal waste stored at dumps, in accordance with the schedule set in the Waste Management Plan of the Czech Republic and its regions. This applies mainly to the waste which is materially and energetically utilizable. Composting is one of the most important methods of processing and utilizing biologically decomposable waste, and it has become a topical issue. The aim of this thesis is to describe the composting process from its beginning to its end. A part of the thesis is a map of composting points in the Moravian-Silesian region.
