Abstract
The thesis deals with the national sanctuary of Travertine cascade in Ticha town where the significant geomorphologic formation is being located. This structure consists of freshwater limestone called calcareous tufa. The first part of this work concentrates on the summary of the basic characteristics relating to the analysed area. The following part focuses on the information about the underground water, the main biotope constituent of calcareous spring sources, and the details on the selected spring parameters. Such analyses are vital to the thesis as the origin of the monument itself is connected to the spring with a high level of mineral substances. The work also includes identification and descriptive details about this sanctuary as well as its origin. The penultimate part displays other areas in West-Beskidian Piedmont with the deposit of freshwater limestone. The conclusion provides the evaluation of all discovered facts.
