Abstract
This diploma thesis is focusing on the Act No. 52/2009 and analyses its impact upon the journalistic practice and upon the economy of media institutions.
The theoretical part is mainly focused on the analysis of the terms of public interest and the protection of personality. It assays the Act No. 52/2009 – the so-called muzzle law and the the law embodiment of the protection of personality and freedom of speech. It deals with the issue of conflict of these two laws. There is similar legislation from abroad and the issue of media ownership also described in this part of thesis.
The practical part evaluates - by the medium of questionnaires - the impact of the muzzle law on the journalistic practice. This part is concluded by an exemplary model of the impact of sanctions resulting from the breaching of the muzzle the law on economy of the chosen media institution - Czech Radio Ostrava.
