Abstract

The subject of this dissertation was the transformation of the periphery area Hady-Korea in Brno to intensive residential area. Urban design responds to the diverse surrounding buildings (houses, gardening colony, housing estate) and the nearby nature conservation area and the topography of the terrain. Response to these conditions was a gradual transition from individual housing as terraced houses, over the point apartment buildings, to a partly recessed apartment blocks. The aim is create a place for bigger range of people with necessary facilities (kindergarten, shops, services), and so establish a new urban neighborhood, not another satellite town. There are apartments designed for seniors like barrier-free, one bedroom flats for young people, but also larger up to five-room flats. An integral part of the project are designed semi-public areas of residential buildings that are intended to induce higher bond population to the place, a sense of security as well as a bigger intimacy.
