Turistický potenciál města Ostravy

Abstract

The main aim of this work is to characterize and assess tourism potential of Ostrava, with focus on what city offers to potential visitors and what target groups should be addressed by city management. Outputs of the work are suggestions and recommendations, how to improve situation of Ostrava’s landmarks and their propagation. This analytical work deals with assessment of tourism potential in Ostrava. Its partial goal is to find a solution to support touristic potential and strengthen tourism value of the city and the Moravian-Silesian Region. First part of the work contains theoretical description of tourism, marketing and destination management. The second part describes the city of Ostrava, its characteristics, economy and tourism. The whole part is ended by SWOT analysis of tourism in Ostrava. The third part is more practical. Its focus is on the most interesting tourism attractions theirs characterization and includes suggestions to address their promotion. Then it focuses on assessment potential solutions to improve tourism potential of the city, especially, by thematically oriented nature trails and tourist discount cards. The work uses analytical, synthetical, and comparative methods, and semi-structured interviews.
