Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the crowdfunding in the USA and its economic determinants. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the economic determinants of the number of started projects on the Kickstarter platform using Empirical analysis. In the first theoretical part the thesis is focused on the basic type of crowdfunding and next it describes the development of this type of financing in the USA, including the description of the most famous platforms for the given types of crowdfunding. The beginning of the practical part contains the review of the available literature focused on crowdfunding, next followed by the Econometric analysis of the determinants of the number of launched projects on the Kickstarter platform. The Regression analysis examines the monthly data from the years 2009-2017 using the Least squares method (LSM). It was found that the number of projects launched on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform is mostly affected by some of the financial variables (interest rates) as well as the variables that describe the competition.
