ABSTRACT
The thesis deals with the effects of individual elements involved in the chemical composition of GS-42CrMo4 steel on the resulting mechanical values of castings. The thesis has been produced with a view to optimizing the chemical composition and to obtain knowledge of the effects of the individual elements on the mechanical values of tested materials. A total of 12 casts of steel of different chemical composition have been prepared of, which test blocks have been cast. Afterwards, test samples have been taken from these materials and treated with heat and subsequently they underwent mechanical and metallographic tests. Pull test and impact test samples have been used to evaluate fracture areas and analyse steel micro-cleanliness. Specification of the equipment with which the casts of steel were produced, technological production processes and kinds of apparatus for determining mechanical and metallographic properties of the materials can be found in the thesis.
