Abstract
For long-term unemployment is considered unemployment that lasts longer than 12 months. Like any long-term unemployment and that brings with it costs associated with the economic and non-economic areas. The longer unemployment lasts, the more these costs are increasing. There is evidence that long-term unemployment has on people and especially on the behavior of great influence. It may happen, for example, marital breakdown, rising crime, alcoholism or a rise in morbidity.
The aim of this thesis is to focus on the structure and development of long-term unemployment in the Region. Attention is also paid to hysteresis and active unemployment policy in the Region. Data that was used for this work came mainly statistics Labour Office of the Czech Republic and the various regional branches in the Region.
