Abstract

This thesis deals with the problem of mine water mixing with surface water of receiving rivers, into which the mine water is discharged. The mine water is characteristic by its high content of sodium chloride and thus it has a good electrical conductivity. This property is experimentally used to detect the mine water in surface water. For this purpose it is suggested to measure the electrical conductivity of surface water directly in the receiving river by conductometer. The influence of mine water and the homogenization of surface waters have been studied by 3 in time different sets of measurement of electrical conductivity in Ostravice and Odra rivers, where the mine water is discharged. The measurements were located in the vicinity of discharges of mine water and in a wider range (in 18 transverse profiles) till the border with Poland. These measurements have enabled to determine the distance from the point of discharge of mine water where the mixing equation may be applicable and to describe the extent of water quality influence in Ostravice and Odra in the significant water deficit in autumn 2011.
