Abstract

The bachelor thesis deals with the verification of the possibility of using solid waste from industrial production, as a cheap sorption material for capturing carbon dioxide. Attention was focused on fly ash with higher carbon content. In experimental part fly ash was subjected sieving, demineralization, steam activated and chemically modified, which included the introduction of amino group. Worked with seven samples of power plant fly ash, which was to activate the steam and chemical modification of selected best sample. The modified fly ash was subjected to thermogravimetric analysis to determine the weight change. Steam activation proved to be weak effective. Using isothermal thermogravimetry for monitoring the sorption of carbon dioxide has been shown to be poorly reproducible.
