Abstract

The dissertation work started with the necessity of looking for energy savings options and concentrated on non-traditional heating of households or any other similar object by thermal pumps as one of such options. Taking advantage of the Microsoft Excel, the principal part of the dissertation work has been to develop a mathematical model that would assess economy of utilizing a specific mode of heating, and also provide for comparison with other heating modes. As an integral part of the work, simulations have been performed that modelled influence of some independent variables on the energy consumption and costs of running a specific heating equipment. The work has been structured into several parts. It begins with an evaluation of the heating trends and follows with a theoretical part that concentrates on the subject of safety provision for buildings, namely as regards utilization of thermal pumps. The energy price development in the period, 2001-2012, is highlighted because it is the price of energy that is of major impact on the overall running costs for any heating equipment. The principal part of the dissertation work is in developing a mathematical model that can assess economy of utilizing a specific mode of heating and that can also provide for comparing of different heating modes and equipment. The influences of several independent variables like object thermal losses; inside object conditions; energy costs, and heat pump thermal factor; are simulated by the model aiming at calculation of annual heating costs. The conclusion summarizes results of the whole work.
