Abstract
The first part of this Bachelor's thesis deals with a general description of the problems of iron in potable water and corrosion in the aquatic environment. In connection with this, there are described in detail currently used corrosion inhibitors for potable water treatment and other water systems. The experimental part is focused on the research of the use of corrosion inhibitors in order to reduce the concentration of iron in potable water. Since it has been previously found that silicate and phosphate based corrosion inhibitors can efficiently sequester iron and thus reduce the organoleptic properties of water, Metaqua K 50 L and Silbond DW were used. The results of the experiments show that the concentration of iron in potable water and the dose of corrosion inhibitors are important for effective iron precipitation.
