Abstract

OSTRAVSKÝ, Martin. Security Project – Protection of a Selected Soft Target. Diploma Thesis, Ostrava 2026. VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering. Supervisor Ing. Věra Holubová, Ph.D. This diploma thesis deals with the protection of soft targets, specifically the development of a comprehensive security project for a selected social-shopping center. Its objective is to identify potential security threats endangering the protected facility and to minimize their impact through an innovative design of physical security. The thesis consists of two parts. The first, dedicated to theory, initially addresses the definition and issues regarding soft targets, followed by their contextualization within the strategic and legal framework of the Czech Republic and the European Union, and concludes with an overview of applicable security methodologies. The second part focuses on a detailed security diagnostics of the examined facility, a description of the current security status, its evaluation, and a subsequent exact assessment of the threat level. The output of the thesis is a comprehensive security project including a wide range of measures to minimize the facility's vulnerabilities and the creation of methodical action cards for personnel.
