Abstract

In this bachelor’s thesis the last fifty years of legislation and standards for electrical safety inspections are reviewed. In the first part of the thesis a development of the standards is summarized with regards to the legislation of the Czech Republic in the period from 1966 to 2015. In the following part the responsibilities, authority and required qualification of an electrical safety inspector are studied. Also, the electrical safety inspections are categorized and the inspection procedures are further described. Based on this background, the inspection reports are examined with special attention paid to mistakes and inaccuracies which can harm the reports’ credibility. In the final part, the most common hazardous malfunctions and defects of tertiary sector electrical installations are specified since they pose threat to health, life or property. Subsequently, causes of fires initiated by electrical installations are examined.
