Dopady pandémie COVID-19 na český poisťovací trh

Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis analyzes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of the Czech insurance market between 2013 and 2023. The pandemic significantly disrupted the functioning of the economy and brought new challenges for the insurance sector, which had to adapt to changing client behavior, increasing uncertainty, and emerging risks. The analysis is based on selected macroeconomic and insurance indicators used to assess market developments before and during the pandemic. The thesis also includes data visualizations that help capture the dynamics of these changes. The findings highlight the specific effects of the pandemic on individual segments of the insurance market and provide a comprehensive view of the sector’s resilience to crisis situations. Based on the conducted analysis, it can be concluded that although the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily disrupted some segments of the insurance market, the sector as a whole demonstrated a high level of resilience. Changes in client behavior and the adaptability of insurance companies to new conditions show the market’s ability to respond flexibly to crisis situations.
