Možnosti aktualizace lavinového katastru na území Tater

Abstract

There is an important piece of work, the Registry of the Avalanche Terrain in the field of avalanche prevention in Slovak Republic. The format of this registry is for present‑day outdated. Until recently, the registry was drawn by hand into topographic maps. This thesis discusses the shortcomings of the original registry and explores the possibilities of its updating. The main focus is on the map component of the registry. Original data was adapted for the use in GIS application and vectorisation of the Registry of the Avalanche Terrain was completed. The Low Tatras Mountains were selected as the testing area. This thesis proposes a data model for vectorisation of the map component and a specific identifier for every avalanche location. The results of the work were amended in order to be used in Google Earth and GIS applications. The results are to be used primarily by the avalanche experts from the Mountain rescue team, especially in the Centre of Avalanche Prevention.
