Abstract
The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of calculation methods of DC electric arcs with an emphasis on their thermal effects on humans. The electric arc has been around since time immemorial. We most closely know it as a strong natural electrostatic discharge produced during a thunderstorm, in the form of lightning. We can also encounter the electric arc in the technical world. Most often in switching and fuse devices. In the first two chapters, we will deal with the theoretical analysis of electric discharge and electric arc, mainly in the DC region. We will get acquainted with the issue of calculating a direct current short circuit and calculation methods to determine the thermal effects of a direct current arc. We will compare the models and evaluate which one is closer to reality.
