Abstract
This bachelor thesis deals with tool steels, their mechanical properties and the influence of alloying elements on the microstructure and properties important for their use in practice. The experimental part is focused on the broken part made of tool steel 90MnCrV8 and on improving the mechanical properties of this tool steel by heat treatment. The steel was processed by various heat treatment processes, which led to a modification of the microstructure. After the final heat treatment, tests of mechanical properties were performed. The results of mechanical properties after heat treatment were compared with the properties of the original damaged part.
The Brinell hardness measurement, measurement of toughness by impact test in bending using a Charpy hammer, and mechanical properties measurement using a tensile test were used to determine mechanical properties. Fractographic analysis was performed on the damaged part using a scanning electron microscope. Light microscopy metallographic analysis was used to describe the microstructure.
