Abstract

The thesis analyses the development of the labor market in the Zlín region. The main aim is to evaluate the labor market in the region with the focus on the vulnerable age groups, especially on the development over the past 11 years. It also examines the overall labor market trend, analyses time series of the chosen indicators such as comparison of the development of the labor market in the Czech Republic and the Zlín Region, the structure of the age of job seekers in the Zlín Region, the development of the absolute and relative number of job seekers aged 50+ in the Zlín Region in terms of education. It determines areas which should be taken in consideration with respect to growing population of productive and post-productive ages which can provide an option for strategic employment policy objectives definition too. Firstly, the labor market and unemployment in the Czech Republic are delineated. Then the thesis continues with the evaluation of the labor market development in the Czech Republic and the Zlín region in the period 2008-2019. It assesses the success of the Czech employment strategy, which was set based on Europe 2020 Strategy, with the special attention for the older age groups 50+. It describes the Zlín region and its geographic, demographic and economic factors. The thesis includes the examination of the chosen vulnerable age group structures in terms of their time being registered as unemployed at the Labor Office of the Czech Republic, incidence of health disabilities and the achieved education. The age group 50+ is compared with other vulnerable age groups in the region in terms of employment. The following chapter focuses on the evaluation of the active labor market policies of the Czech Republic with its passive and active tools, and programs which are implemented in the Zlín region to increase the employment there, mainly of the vulnerable age groups. The last part of the thesis proposes several plans and recommendations which are based on the data and information from previous chapters.
