Abstract

The work is dedicated to developing client-server distributed system for log files processing using the Java programming language. The system is designed for the needs of a particular process in company ON Semiconductor. The processed log files are generated in the production of microchips and contain a considerable amount of information about the manufacturing process. The system allows sending these log files across the network in XML format from the client and accept them in to the server via Web services. System is built on WSDL language in combination with SOAP protocol. The application runs in an Apache Tomcat container on a Linux server. Data is stored in Oracle 11g database, which also runs on a dedicated Linux server. The system also includes an application for viewing and filtering of records stored in the database. The whole system is developed in Java language, which provides the necessary multiplatform portability. For development was used the Spring Framework, which makes the declaration and management of beans easier using Inversion of Control design pattern and also simplifies working with JDBC. Goal of the work is to describe technology and programming approaches, which have been used to develop the system. The developed system currently provides users many advantages over the original solution, when the log files were stored only on the local machines. Original solution missed an overview of global problems occurring that could be useful in the decision making process.
