Abstract
This work concerns the usage of infrared spectroscopy for examination of solid state
samples of materials promising for micro- and nanostructures. This method enables, together with the mathematical modeling, to gain the information about optical functions
of these materials. Unfortunately, direct measurement of such materials in standard
infrared spectrometers is generally very problematic due to the small size of samples.
Therefore a special sample holder with a mask allowing measurement of samples as small as 1 millimeter in diameter was developed. The procedure of measurement and data
treatment which subtracts the parasitic signal of the sample holder with mask is demonstrated on thin glass plate. Resulting spectra is verified by comparison with those of the sample measured in standard holder. Finally the optical functions of terbium-scandium-aluminium garnet and terbium-scandium perovskite which seems to be promising as the raw materials for micro- and nanostructures are gained.
