Abstract

The presented diploma thesis deals with the investigation of possible causes of seizure of rotors of vacuum pumps made of aluminium alloy based on Al-Zn-Mg-Cu. The theoretical part is devoted to 7000 series aluminium alloys with regard to their chemical composition and mechanical properties, where the main focus is alloy 7075. The next part contains a general description of creep properties of metallic materials, followed by a description of creep properties of alloy 7075. Four specimens of 7075 alloy, originating from vacuum pump rotors were assigned. The samples were examined for their chemical composition, including local chemical compositions, hardness, and microstructure. With the help of professional literature, estimates of their service life were performed under conditions close to the conditions specified by the contracting authority.
