Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a distributed system for livestock
tracking using GNSS and LoRaWAN wireless technology. The goal was to create a functional
prototype capable of recording the animal’s position and securely transmitting the data to a server,
where it is stored, displayed, and further processed. The thesis analyzes commercially available
solutions and compares technologies applicable to similar use cases. Based on this analysis, a
custom solution was proposed, built on a Raspberry Pi Zero W microcomputer, a GNSS module, and
LoRaWAN communication. The server-side infrastructure uses the ChirpStack stack, a PostgreSQL
database, and a web application developed in the Flask framework. The system was subsequently
tested and proved to be functional, meeting the requirements for decentralized operation. The work
also includes user and developer documentation.
