Abstract

The submitted bachelor thesis attempts to deal with a practical verification of the theory of thermal fluctuations in continuously cast billets having impact on the surface quality of rolled bars. Numerous experiments during continuous casting in Trinecke Zelezarny, a. s. (Iron and Steel Works in Trinec) have proven the occurrence of thermal fluctuations in continuously cast blanks. Generally, the disputed fluctuations have negative impact on the quality of continuously cast billets. The detailed examination was focused on comparison of temperature mapping records obtained by means of a temperature scanner during steel casting with the results of surface quality control tests of rolled bars. The measured figures were processed and compared.
