Abstract

The goal of this work was a comparsion of methods for preparation of bromide pelets for IR spectroscopy of the solid matter. KBr as solution agent is hygroscopic and the task of this work was to find the best method for preparation of KBr tablet so that resulting spectra are influenced by air humidity as little as possible. There have been five methods of preparation used. When the tablet is measured straight after being pressed, when it has been deposited in a desiccator, dried in a drier and dried under an infra-red lamp (with mechanical homogenization and homogenization in agate mortart with pestle). After an evaluation of all those five methods it has been determined that they all provide spectra suitable for further analysis. Those methods differed in demands for energy and time concerning the preparation of pelets. Further study could be the analysis of the way KBr is influenced with long term measurments.
