Abstract

The European Union supports the elimination of regional disparities in the border areas through the regional policy. The main instrument of regional development support is the cross-border cooperation that strengthens the potential of regions´ development by EU‘s Cross-border Cooperation Operational Programmes. The aim of bachelor thesis is to evaluate and compare the drawing of funds from the Cross-border Cooperation Operational Programmes of the Czech Republic in the period 2007-2013. The analysis shows that funds under OP PS Czech Republic and Bavaria were drawn the most effectively. At the end of December 2013 the funds amounting to 80.2 % of the allocation for the period 2007-2013 were submitted to the European Commission for a certification. On the contrary, OP PS Czech Republic-Austria was ranked at the last position because only 43.3 % of funds was submitted for the certification. The countries should focus on the using of EU funds in an effective way to strengthen the development potential of each border region.
