Abstract
This thesis describes and implements a method for rendering soft shadows through a combination
of analytic direct illumination and stochastic shadows. The main objective was to implement the
method using the C++ language and the Vulkan API interface and to demonstrate the possibilities
of the described approach for rendering soft shadows in real time. The work includes the theoretical
background of stochastic shadows, a detailed mathematical description of the method used, the final
implementation using the Intel Embree library and the Vulkan API interface. The results of the
work include an analysis and comparison of outputs on different graphics cards and noise reduction
using deep learning.
