Abstract

This bachelor thesis is focused on optimization of calcination temperature during production of TiO2, based on evaluation of calcination products optical parameters at different temperatures. The thesis covers production methods of a titanium dioxide pigment, in particular calcination process and the effect of the calcination temperature on the final product. The theoretical part concentrates on particle growth kinetics and influence of temperature on kinetic parameters. This forms an important part of this bachelor thesis. Preparation of analyzed samples is described in experimental part of the thesis. The main analyzed parameters were tinting strength, undertone and particle size distribution. Various methods for particle size measurement were tested and compared. Optimal calcination temperature has been determined on the basis of obtained results. Important part of the results and the discussion is the kinetic model, which covers the process of particle’s growth with respect of different calcination temperatures.
