Effective SPC Implementation in Automotive Lamp Manufacturing

Abstract

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a preventive quality control tool that enables the early detection of significant deviations in production processes, facilitating continuous improvement and the prevention of nonconforming units. This work focuses on an Automotive Company specializing in Lighting Systems, where SPC will be applied to the Headlamp Assembly Line. Activities include developing a theoretical basis, detailed analysis of the production process, identification of nonconformities, designing a comprehensive statistical control system, and practical verification of the design. Quality Characteristics such as the Intensity of the Hot Zone in Low and High Beam lights will be evaluated using EWMA control charts to continuously monitor these variables and detect small changes that may affect the performance of the Headlamps.
