Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the heat release rate using the cone calorimeter, which methodology is anchored in the international standard ISO 5660-1. The first part introduces a cone calorimeter and parts of which the device is composed. Furthermore, the differences of two cone calorimeters in which measurements were carried out and the measured materials are described. Moreover, attention is paid to sample preparation before the measurement, and measurement methodology is described. Finally, the results of the two measurements are evaluated and their use in practice in the area of the fire protection of equipment of railway vehicles is described.
