Abstract

This bachelor's thesis is about my professional practice at ABB s.r.o., which focused on the issue of shore power supply for cruise ships. The introductory part of this thesis introduces ABB s.r.o. and describes my role within this organisation. It then looks in more detail at the technical aspects and challenges associated with cruise ship power, using as many relevant and credible sources as possible. Beyond this, this thesis also addresses issues of the applicability and efficiency of these systems, including the potential environmental and economic impacts on the maritime sector. The final section then discusses the benefits that this practice has had for me and summarises the activities undertaken during the practice.
