Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out the influence of alloying elements on mechanical properties of magnesium alloys (alloyed with aluminum and zinc). Microstructure and mechanical properties will be examined by experimental measurement in laboratory. Another task is to compare AZ alloys with other conventional materials used in automotive industry. While replacing the commercially used materials there is a great reduction of car weight which decreases the fuel consumption and saves the operating costs. In the final part we will aim to possible usage of magnesium alloys in functional parts of the car. In experimental part the metallographic study on the AZ80 alloy was performed.
