Secesionistické tendence v Evropské unii na příkladu Katalánska

Abstract

The aim of the master thesis is to identify and evaluate the economic and political obstacles to the independence of Catalonia, based on an analysis of historical, political and economic developments in connection with an increase requirements in independence. In view of this goal, the hypothesis was formulated as follows: the establishment of independent Catalonia would have a negative political and economic impact on the Catalan population. The thesis is divided into five chapters, the first chapter comprises the introduction and the fifth comprises conclusion. The second chapter is devoted to the theoretical definition of the concepts of secession and its causes. It also describes examples of secessionist tendencies in the European Union, as exemplified by Scotland and Flanders, and deals with the position of the European Union on the issue of secession and separatism. The third chapter describes in detail the historical development, political and economic situation of Catalonia. The fourth chapter analyzes the political and economic barriers that prevent Catalonia from becoming an independent state. Obstacles are analyzed at national and international level.
