Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to explore various non-standard possibilities of representing numbers. The decimal number system is universally well known ( not necessarily under this label ). Other common number systems that are used in practice are
• in technical fields - binary and hexadecimal
• when working with time or angles - sexagesimal
Apart from standard systems (such as those mentioned above ), the base of which is a sequence of powers of a natural number, we can also use different sequences as base. We will examine 4 non-standard numeral systems and their characteristics. Such characteristics will include determining the domain of a system, the steps to achieve conversion, whether it is possible to add and multiply in the given numeral system, and if so, then how.
