Abstract

This thesis frames a concept for an extension of a computer network. This extension is solving suitable interconnection of two buildings and computers‘ data backup. There are two possible options of connecting buildings – wireless connection or VPN tunnel. The final version was selected with the help of decision analysis and comparison of benefits of each variation. VPN option is recommended after evaluation. For the data backup a NAS server, which gathers data from individual computers, is selected. This NAS server itself is backed up on external hard drive to enhance the security. All options are supported by selection of appropriate hardware for the application of chosen variation, also with a prize calculation. Hereby this thesis offers an integrated concept for extension of computer network.
