In the bachelor thesis deal with the development of flood protection in Ostrava after 1997 and the procedure for their solution in response to the destructive flood of July 1997. All the work I would split into parts. The introductory part describe floods in general, its characteristics, types of floods and protection. Then I compare historical floods on the territory of today's Czech Republic and their comparison. The next section describes Statutory City of Ostrava and the flood in 1997. The main part is mainly focused on partial rivers flowing through the city of Ostrava and the various flood control measures which should protect the district. The last part proposes measures that would increase the flood protection of the city.
