Abstract

Monetary policy is a part of the economic policy and could be defined as set of steps which leads to accomplishement of the monetary policy objectives with help of selected monetary instruments. In most market economies, the prime objective of the monetary policy is price stability. Not any differently it is with the Czech National Bank and the European Central Bank. This Bachelor Thesis follows up the monetary policy of both institutions. An objective of this Bachelor Thesis is to define a system and funcionality of central banking in the Czech Republic and euro area and lastly but not leastly to carry out comparison between monetary policies of both institutions. The first chapter focuses on establishment and development of the central banking on Czech lands and there is also mentioned the formation of the European Central Bank. In general, there are stated the main features of central banks and the methods and reasons of their establishments. The leading subject of the second chapter is to name the main objectives and tasks of the CNB and the ECB and to mention their Organisation charts. The third charter is dedicated to question of monetary policy instruments usage and compares monetary policy of the CNB and the ECB. The Bachelor Thesis refers also to present situation of monetary policy of euro area.
