Abstract

This thesis deals with checking, finding out and describing potential influences of current temperature and long-term thermal stress to optical transmission parameters of optical fiber circulators. The main objective is to find out what is the impact of these influences to behavior changes of those elements because these influences can be limiting in future and it is going to be necessary to envisage them. The research of ageing plays a central role in forecasting the changes evolution of optical elements' performance throughout its operating life. Optical fiber circulators have relatively complicated inner structure causing they have increased sensitivity to those external influences. Based on those influences circulators have a tendency to change their own properties. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with detailed description of optical circulators' inner structure and applications.
