Abstract

This work deals with the properties of 34CrMo4 steel after exposition to high pressure hydrogen of 500 and 1000 bar. In the first part of this thesis the basic knowledge about 34CrMo4 steel is summarized, specifically about its composition, including the influence of alloying elements, mechanical properties, microstructure and its possible use. High attention is paid to the problem of hydrogen embrittlement, which is very important for the use of this steel. Experimental part of thesis is focused to the influence of exposure to high-pressure hydrogen of 500 and 1000 bar on the mechanical properties of 34CrMo4 steel. The influence on the microstructure of this steel is also discussed here.
