Abstract

The solid residues after solid fuels combustion are materials that are widely used since past. In the middle Ages, the ash from burned wood was added to the mortar to improve its properties. With the advent of combustion of coal arised a new product = fly ash, which began to use extensively in the early 20th century industrial buildings and road construction. In recent years, use of biomass combustion is rising and also problems according to biomass combustion how to effectively use the ash from biomass burning. Properties of fly ash and ashes are dependent on combusted material and combustion technology and therefore it is necessary to monitor these properties. This Diploma thesis deals with the testing of these solid fuels combustion products and their characterization with modern techniques.
