Abstract

The aim of the thesis is to design a primary school building on Černá louka in the center of Ostrava, on an area that is already partially used as an educational campus of the University of Ostrava. The work is based on an already created urban planning proposal for the given area, based on the existing needs and structure of the city. The newly created elementary school building should complement the character of the area and respond to the proximity of the historic center of Ostrava and the Ostravice River. The subject of the work will be to use the potential of architecture for a primary school building using new teaching methods, where new needs and requirements for 21st century pedagogy can be applied and equip pupils with a basic knowledge minimum and a wide range of skills for life in a continuously and unpredictably changing world.
