Abstract

Study of Intersection Modifications on the Roads II/477 and II/473 in Frydek-Mistek This study shows a possible solution for the modification of the intersection of the II/477 and II/473 roads in Frydek-Mistek. The purpose of the reconstruction is to calm down the traffic, using appropriate measures and to increase the safety and capacity of the intersection. The first part of this work deals with the current state of the intersection point, including a traffic survey focusing on the current and foreseen daily traffic volume. Furthermore, the first part of the study includes an analysis of traffic accidents that occurred at this intersection since 2007. In the next part of the study, three different proposals are discussed. The first and least costly option requires minimal alterations. The second proposal includes a roundabout using one bypass and the last considered option is a roundabout design with the use of 2 bypasses. All these solutions were verified using the “beam curves” of AutoTURN 8. In the final section of the study, the three suggested proposals are compared and a definitive choice is made.
