Abstract

The master thesis is focused on ensuring fire safety of opencast machines used for opencast lignite mines. A wheel excavator is selected for the fire risk. The aim of the thesis is to assess the fire risk and to propose measures to improve fire safety. The first part of the thesis focuses on the basic description of the large machines, in particular wheel excavators, and the specification of areas with increased fire risk. In the next part, the regulations ensuring are presented the technical and safety requirements of opencast machines. Subsequently, a fire risk assessment is carried out. The last part of the work focuses on the existing situation and the proposal of new measures to ensure fire safety.
