Abstract

This thesis deals with water resource management modification of torrent. The set of technical modifications called torrent control was until recently considered the only possible way of torrent reconstruction. However, [environmentally friendly] closer to nature modifications known as revitalization have become popular in recent years. The first part of this thesis is dedicated to setting the basic knowledge and terms closely related to the given topic and important for better understanding of the individual links. The following chapter deals with torrent bed characteristics and morphology. This thesis further outlines the history of torrent reconstruction and the river channel reconstruction – torrent control and revitalization. These chapters briefly describe the river bed modifications of stream cross-section, stream gradient, and stabilization of river bed. The last part describes the Beskydy gravel-bed stream Kněhyně, which was modified by traditional torrent control in the past. Between the years 2003 -2004 a model revitalization, unique in the Czech Republic, was performed there. The conclusion contains an evaluati on of each type of river channel reconstruction.
