Abstract

This thesis deals with the protection of the civilian population in improvised shelters during extraordinary events. The objective of this thesis is to verify the methodology, developed for this purpose by the Faculty of Safety Engineering at the Ostrava Technical University, Czech Republic. Kindergartens in Uherské Hradiště, Czech Republic were used for the verification of the protective factor of buildings and for determining the maximum time that people can stay inside a shelter. Based on an analysis of the collected data this publication evaluates the real-life applicability of the methodology for the requirements of the Regional Fire and Rescue Service.
