Abstract
Hydrogen is an ideal source of energy for future applications and therefore is a storage of hydrogen very important for development of hydrogen economy. Metal hydrides have proved to be a very promising material. The literature research summarizes problems of metal hydrides, their properties (structure, temperatures, kinetics and pressure of sorption/desorption, etc.) and preparation of Mg-based hydrides by mechanical alloying. The experimental study was focused on MgNi-based hydride. Mg and Ni powders were milled together in hydrogen atmosphere using planetary mill, which was consisting of steel tank and steel grinding balls. Grinding parameters were variable, but BPR of 20:1 was kept. The SEM observation, microanalysis, particle and hydrogen analysis were performed on the formed MgNi-based hydride.
